Spirits That Destroy, Continued: Jeremiah 17:9-10, Mark 7:21-23, The heart is deceitful, it does not want to reveal itself. It seeks to lead to a mis-conception of the true nature of a thing. It tries to conceal its own true character by presenting itself in another light other than its true light. The heart is unwilling to know itself. It does one thing and then tries to make us believe it was for another purpose. The heart is the source, or spring of motives, passions, actions, etc. The heart is the laboratory and place of issue of all that is good and evil in thoughts, words, and deeds. The actions of the body are first entertained in the heart. The heart is the birthplace of all the evils that other members of the body commit. Note: Mark 7:21-23, When the heart is corrupt...(i.e. Full of evil spirits) the life and conduct will be corrupt. Corrupt: Defiled, foul spirit, infected, perverted, contaminated, polluted, poisoned, diseased, impure, etc. Matthew 7:16-20, just as this is true in the natural realm, so it is in the spiritual. A person cannot be a saint and a sinner at the same time. Satan is the author of sin and evil spirits, not GOD. God is the author of righteousness and holiness. So you remember that Satan uses various methods in order to destroy the souls of mankind, and one of those methods is by an evil spirit getting into your heart. It must get into your heart before it can destroy you. An evil spirit must get inside before it can possess you. If it can get inside, then it can possess...i.e. It has occupancy, lordship, control, master, monoplize, command, take over, etc.

The Evil Spirit of Division: Galatians 5:13-16, James 3:14-18, Ephesians 4:1- 3, I Corinthians 1:10

A. Division: To separate, dis-unite, dis-connect, dis-engage, split, tear apart, dis-membered, to be far between, isolated, etc.

B. Satan's work is to separate you from those and that, which can help you spiritually.

C. There always has been...is now and always will be differences among people, but because there has been...is now and will always be differences among people does not mean that it is God's will. Division is the work of Satan. He is the originator of quarrels among mankind. The Bible condemns all Christian division and advocates Christian unity.

D. Strength is easily broken if there is division...Matthew 12:25

1. Divisions among the Trojans made way for their overthrow by the Greeks.

2. Divisions among Greeks brought them under the slavery of Philip.

3. Divisions and feuds among the Persians subjected them to the Macedonians.

4. Divisions among Alexander's successors caused them to be swallowed up by the Romans.

5. One after the other in history of the world, nations were devoured because they were divided amongst themselves.

6. Once famous and powerful churches and denominations, but because of feuds, divisions among themselves, they no longer exist. Love is the cement that keeps us together, division destroys love. When love is dead, then the care, the concern, the compassion for one another is dead. Unity through love is the only means of strength and preservation.

E. There is no Victor in division...Galatians 5:15, if you become cannibalistic Christians, you will destroy one another. The Victor is the one who stays away from those who cause division...Romans 16:17.

F. Sinners come to Church to find love and “true-friendship”, warmth, peace, joy, goodness, unity, etc. They have hate, fights, division, etc in the world as you also had. But now we are changed...we have been converted through the power of the Holy Ghost.

G. Old Dutch Proverb: About two earthen pots floating upon the water with this motto...if we knock together, we will break and all sink together. Biting. Devouring, tearing, etc one another will be consumed by one another.

H. Division is not an attribute of God...Proverbs 6:16-19, Isaiah 11:6-9.

1. Holy Ghost makes wolves and lambs agree. The lambs don't turn to wolves after the Holy Ghost comes in. The old wolf spirit...(i.e. Flesh eating animal, fierce, greedy, sneaky, etc) is changed after the Holy Ghost comes in. The old bear spirit...(i.e. Dangerous, ill humored, rude, sullen, gloomy, etc) is changed after the Holy Ghost comes in. The old lion spirit...(i.e. Bold, prowling, crounching, ambushing, etc) is changed after the Holy Ghost comes in. The old serpent spirit...(i.e. Cunning, swift, sly, deceitful, poison, crafty, etc) is changed after the Holy Ghost comes in. All of these spirits are changed after the Holy Ghost comes in. That is called conversion! The Holy Ghost has the power to convert you. If you haven't been changed or converted...then you do not have the Holy Ghost operating in your mortal body!

2. We become harmless, dwell together, no more devouring, etc, we have now become gentle, tame, eating together, lying down together, even a child can lead us.

3. The true sign of a changed heart, is when the lion and the bear that once hated, attacked one another, devoured one another, can now love, dwell together, worship together, sorrow together, rejoice together and live together in peace and unity.

    

I. This lesson teaches us unity...every creature has a different nature, yet none are harmful to the others. When we learn not to bite, devour, etc one another, we have learned the secret of Unity and Progress.

J. The spirit of division is a spirit that destroys.
